The Pest Horse - A Performance by Brian Getnick with Bryatt Bryant
August 22 - August 24 at 7:30pm and 9pm & August 25th at 4pm
Brian Getnick
Los Angeles based performance artist Brian Getnick presents The Pest Horse, a live performance staged within the sculptural costumes of two decayed horses at Station Independent Projects.
The Pest Horse begins with a disembodied horse’s head returning home to find its body occupied by a zombified doppelganger with lettuce for teeth. Through puppetry, spoken word and dance Getnick and collaborator Bryatt Bryant will bring to life the horse’s fragmented body in a darkly absurdist fantasy of decomposition, memory and desire.

Brian Getnick is a performance artist and curator living in LA. He received his MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2004. In 2008 he was nominated for the 4th annual performance prize through the Galleria Civica in Trento, Italy. In his performances different notions of memory are dealt with through the deconstruction of large hand made sculptural bodies that are manipulated as puppets, worn as costumes or treated as environmental installations. Since 2011, his primary work as a curator and writer has been through Native Strategies, a biannual publication and performance platform.
